HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. It is a hormone released during pregnancy. It rises when you become pregnant, and is detectable in the blood and urine, and is the basis of pregnancy testing.
When HCG is given to non-pregnant people on a very-low calorie diet, it helps them to lose more weight and burn a greater percentage of fat than with dieting alone. The body has THREE types of fat: structural fat, reserve fat, and abnormal fat (tummy, hips, thighs, etc). HCG helps your body burn 1000-4000 calories of stored ABNORMAL fat a day! Since you are getting calories from your stored fat, you only need to consume 500 calories a day. And you don’t feel hungry! The exception would be, if you were pregnant, you wouldn’t want to slow your metabolism, and it would be a great time to burn your fat that you had been saving for a special occasion. That would allow you to not only survive the “pregnancy famine”, but to ensure adequate nutrition for the growing fetus, and survival of the species.
Be careful where you get your HCG. The FDA has cracked down on on-line HCG sales. Most online HCG comes from the urine of pregnant women in countries like India. Injections are the best route for HCG administration and are only available with a prescription.
