Always look over the labels of processed and packaged foods. Just because something is labeled “reduced-fat” doesn’t mean it is nutritionally sound. Often, they are loaded with unhealthy ingredients like sugar and lots of salt. Stay away from processed foods, as they can make you gain weight. The ingredients in most healthy products are easily recognizable to most people. Read your labels, and don’t buy anything that contains quite a few artificial ingredients listed.
If you have trouble eating healthy foods, try sneaking them into your usual foods. If you cook for picky eaters in your household, this will come in handy because you can slip those ingredients with a high nutritional value into any food that you cook or prepare. Examples of this stealth approach would be fortifying baked goods and blender drinks with dry milk powder, and sneaking 1/2 cup or so of white beans into your next quick bread, cookie, or cake recipe. This will cause everybody in your family to eat healthier without them even knowing it.
One of the best ways to improve your diet is to get rid of microwavable products. These meals typically contain heavy amounts of salt and sugar. Purchase fresh vegetables and meats and prepare your own healthy meals.
